The Feast of St. Thomas More\, celebrated by the Holy Church alongside St. John Fisher each 22 June\, will be celebrated early this year\, with Mass and dinner on Wednesday 18 June 2025. \nPlease join us for the evening Mass at St. Stephen’s Chapel\, 360 Bay St. #200\, Toronto\, ON M5H 2V6\, 5:10 p.m. This will be immediately preceding the Guild’s Dinner celebration at 6:00 p.m. at the National Club. He was ordained to the episcopacy on January 25\, 2021\, at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in Toronto. Early Life and Education Born on April 18\, 1969\, in Sliema\, Malta\, Bishop Camilleri immigrated to Canada with his family in 1980\, settling in Mississauga\, Ontario. He earned a Hons. Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University in 1991 and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School in 1993. Prior to entering the priesthood\, he worked in mergers and acquisitions holding various management positions at Bell Canada Enterprises\, Nortel\, and Marconi Canada. Priestly Formation and Ministry In 2001\, Bishop Camilleri began his seminary studies at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto\, obtaining a Bachelor of Sacred Theology and a Master of Divinity. He was ordained a priest on May 12\, 2007\, by Archbishop Thomas Collins. His first pastoral assignment was as Associate Pastor at Merciful Redeemer Parish in Mississauga. Shortly afterward\, he was asked by Cardinal Collins to obtain a Licentiate in Canon Law at The Catholic University of America\, completing it in 2011. Following his studies\, he was appointed to various Curial roles within the Archdiocese of Toronto\, including Vice-Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs in 2011\, Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs in 2012\, and Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia in 2013. He also served as a Judge at the Toronto Regional Tribunal and as a sessional lecturer at St. Augustine’s Seminary. Episcopal Ministry As Auxiliary Bishop\, Bishop Camilleri oversees the Western Pastoral Region of the Archdiocese\, encompassing 72 parishes in the western part of Toronto and the Regional Municipality of Peel-Dufferin. He also serves as Vicar for Consecrated Life\, and Liaison for Liturgy. In 2024 Cardinal Leo asked Bishop Camilleri to additionally resume his previous roles as Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs\, Moderator of the Curia and Vicar General. Bishop Camilleri is also the Moderator of the Canadian Appeal Tribunal for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops since 2021. Episcopal Motto and Coat of Arms Bishop Camilleri’s episcopal motto is Servite Domino in lætitia (“Serve the Lord with gladness”)\, drawn from Psalm 100:2\, reflecting his commitment to joyful service.
