On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, we join people of faith around the world in observing Red Wednesday, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the persecution of Christians and all people of faith who suffer for their beliefs.

Red Wednesday reminds us of our shared commitment to religious freedom, solidarity, and prayer for those who are denied this fundamental human right.

We invite you to wear red, light your home or office in red, and take a moment to pray for all who face oppression or violence because of their faith. Together, we can be a voice for those who cannot speak freely.

Let us stand in unity and hope, for truth, peace, and the freedom to believe.

Background

Red Wednesday was established by Aid to the Church in Need, a papal charity, as a global initiative to highlight the plight of persecuted Christians and promote religious freedom for all.

On this day, churches, landmarks, and public buildings around the world are illuminated in red,  the colour of martyrdom, as a sign of solidarity with those who suffer for their faith.
