Founder of Elimu, Nina Chung sends her warm gratitude to Guild members for your warm welcome and engaging participation during her presentation at the Annual Thomas More Feast Day Dinner in June. For Nina, this was a unique opportunity to share her experiences as a Canadian and Catholic leading a charity that provides education and employability skills to children and youth in Kenya. Her faith has deepened as she lived it out in a community suffering socio-economic pressures that keep families locked into poverty. She still travels between Kenya and Canada every year and gave us a glimpse into the impact Elimu has been making in the lives of individuals and communities. Through Elimu’s programs children are gaining the education they deserve. High school graduates are building hopeful futures with the modern skills they need. Communities are seeing the value of educating their girls and training their youth beyond high school and breaking down stigmas around technology.
